A longtime Houston, Texas resident, Joel Bartsch is a dedicated museum leader who has served as the president and CEO of the Houston Museum of Natural Science since 2004. Joel A. Bartsch coordinates and leads the museum staff and curators in creating immersive exhibitions at HMNS.

The music projection exhibition at HMNS is James Hood's Mesmerica, which showcases the work of Grammy-nominated composer James Hood with an additional layer of matching 3D animated art. The purpose of the projection space is to completely engage visitors' senses so they can fully enjoy the beauty of sound and light.
